Can you file for unemployment benefits if you are a subcontractor? I have worked for one company for 9 years and have received a check from this company, he no longer has enough work. Am I eligible?

I am the subcontractor and I have paid taxes for the last, a 8 years I have been receiving a pay check for the last years from the same company and now he does not have enough work to contract out anymore. Am I eligible for unemployment benefits?

The question is lacking enough detail to answer, are u a subcontractor or did you work under a subcontractor and did anyone pay into unemployment benefits on your behalf? I don't see eligibility in your question
