There is no ban yet-- but one is likely before summer. Ducks and geese are being injured and killed by fishing line. It's intended to be a temporary ban while they consult with Fish & Game and other municipalities to try to identify solutions-- which might include seasonal closures or requiring licenses. I understand the dilemma. I saw a very excited youngster pull a 6 - 8 lb. catfish out of the east side of the pond last weekend. I've taken my niece and nephew fishing there. I also really enjoy the water fowl (there seems to be a resident wood duck pair that frequent the north side of the pond). We are walking to the pond this morning to watch the RC boating club sail their model boats on the east side of the pond. So many uses for the pond-- it's a community treasuy, to be sure. Park management says they will be seeking public input during the moratorium. I'd watch the local papers and web sites to find out how to make your concerns known to them. Correction. Saw 8 wood ducks today
Well it's not fishermen that litters only. All that visit that don't respect the law are at fault they can't just blame it on all fishermens and fisherwoman.
FYI The moratorium was approved in Wednesday but they have not set a time or date for the ban to start yet so my guess is you can fish for now. The ban was because of reported littering and wildlife injuries i guess. Smh
