As i understand it, you can also buy passes at some local sporting goods stores, too. REI for one.
All of los Angeles forest requires a pass to park.
You need a forestry pass if you use any of the facilities. So If you park in the lot or use the bathroom, then you technically need a pass. If you park on the road, you don't need one.
I don't think so. I've been there many times and never been asked to present one. You do need a pass to park. Which you can acquire at the top in the office. It's about $5-6
