I parked at the municipal lot. It has a pay machine which accepts credit cards. It's safe. The beach and park is free.

I think last time I checked, parking was around$6 for the day inside the gates of the Hollywood North Beach parking area, which makes sense if you're going to stay more than 4 hours. There are lots of other places to park and you can walk in. Parking elsewhere is about $1.50/hr.
