I work for Volunteers of America Los Angeles as a Case Manage, smack in the center of Skid Row. Weingart is next door. I tell you its no more dangerous for a trans person than a hetero. Peril and harm are equal opportunity employer to all who reside in Skid Row. Nevertheless, there are relatively safe areas within the walls of most shelters in the area You'd be surprised at the stark difference with what's on the street with what's between the walls of a clean and well run facility. And yet the risk is palpable and real. Tread with caution.

Its a very unsafe area, in general. There are trans women at Weingart and they are no more unsafe then anyone else. Cyswomen are by far the most unsafe here.
