Take the bart or uberPool (cheap and less hassle) from the departures level to go to the city. Maybe go to a 24/7 gym or a crunch gym and ask for a 1 day trial. Then shower away.

First, SFO might have member/paid lounge showers, so ask there. Second, transport. I Loathe taxpaying for 3rd rate BART, unpoliced unsafe ,Mob, speed only 70mph, dirty, ugly cars, lousy incompetent mgmt, can't read small station signs or understand station announcements, but this is what our voted in politicians have saddled us with! So i use Caltrain on the Peninsula, from Bgame to Frisco or SFO to SF. Not perfect, but a much better system than BART. Terminal is by the ballpark, and street car there up the Embarcadero waterfront Or bus, lyft, uber N on 3rd to downtown and Union Square or Chinatown or former italian North Beach. Member of YMCA? They have a bldg on Steuart ,,, i might try for a shower. YWCA is in dicey TL. Maybe a sf hotel,call sf conv. , go to sunken location at Powell x Market. Street-people have a few Lava Mae.(limit)
Unless you are a member of your airline's lounge club I do not believe there is any where you can shower at SFO.
Just take BART from the airport into SF city and walk around. There are many places like Fisherman's Wharf, alkatruz and Ghirardelli ,awesome places for both food and scenic lovers. Then you can take a cable car back from Fisherman's Wharf to the Powell Street BART station, and head back to the airport.
Tramsportstion try Uber or Bart. Go to pier 39 for a bite to eat and tourist attractions.
