We just bought a house on the north side of the preserve and this morning there are some pretty large paw prints in the mud by the back wall. Have there ever been any sightings of larger animals other than coyote?

There are mountain lions in SoCal. Not sure of that particular area but I'm pretty sure there are. Could you make out the claws in the paw print? In general if you can see the claws it's canine and if you can't it's feline as cats both wild and domesticated can retract their claws.

You said large but what is your assessment of large? You mentioned coyote but coyote would be considered small to medium at best. A male coyote weigh less than 50 lbs and females 40 lbs or less. A male mountain lion (aka cougar) can weigh over 200 lbs and a female about 140 or less. So even if a male cougar’s weight is 120 lbs is more than double the weight of a full grown male coyote. And as someone already mentioned a coyote paw print will include a nail while a cougar print will not.

I heard along the grapevine that there have been recent bobcat sightings but I can't remember where, I think you should be able to find it on AV scanner group though

I don't know look them up on the internet for any tours or when the office is open they would be the best to know what animals are in the area.
