There are quite a few homeless folks in the area, who, being homeless, probably don't have many places to go. So I would expect you might see some of them in the day as well. Problems with addiction are common among the homeless population, but most of those I have seen around Stop & Shop are not using. As for why security doesn't bother them, I would guess the primary reason is that they are harmless, but it may also be because the security folks are also able to respect the homeless as people just trying to get by, and don't want to make life harder for them.
Security does their job of protecting the company, staff, and paying customers. I have respect for those who work on cold, hot, or stormy days and ACTUALLY have a heart for the 'dope heads' and give them a break from the elements inside the long side entrance way. If they are that much of a bother to any of the customers find another place to shop, I know it's annoying and uncomfortable being asked for spare change, turn ur aggravation into gratitude that you are not living in their shoes and that when u leave the store with ur groceries, u know exactly where u will be sleeping tonight.
Quite possible. The area has a high homeless and crime rate. But the Stop & Shop is a good place to shop, if one doesn't mind their surroundings.
It's not stop and shops fault.. it's just the area in general
