They only allow you to put items on layaway from specific departments; electronics, toys, infant furniture, small appliances, large furniture, auto electronics, and select sporting Goods and jewelry. And it also has to be in-store.
They usually only do layaway at Christmas. I would call the corporate office and ask the reason why

If you look at the layaway details it says they allow you to put large ticket items on layaway. Reason is they have no room in stores now and have had so many issues with people not picking them up that they chose to do away with it and only do the afore mentioned. Also it is easier to keep sites on loss prevention from in-store theft if the back room is not covered in layaways. But it does say in the details that they do only certain items
