Personally I prefer nurse practitioner I have nothing against the doctor but nurse practitioners to me or more well-rounded because they have experience in the front line and consistent care with patients they're the ones that the patient's trust that are constantly checking their vitals that are constantly talking to them I don't ask for nurse practitioner but I am totally open and I think it's a blessing when they're actually is a nurse practitioner they're basically only one step below a doctor they just can't write prescriptions that's the only difference is that they cannot write prescriptions other than that they are totally and fully qualified and like the last response yes you see someone first to evaluate and then they send you a referral and that's a general clinic I do not have insurance I am was extremely happy with the care that I got the doctor heard me out she took everything into consideration she understood what I preferred.
Like most large clinics one Dr oversees the staff. My wife also has neuropathy. This is a general health clinic. They will refer you to a doctor who can go farther than they can. Be nice, they are doing their best for what little they charge you.
Laura...we have several medical doctors and nurse practitioners (ARNP) at our Ruskin facility. That you were scheduled with an ARNP instead of a doctor was, as you alluded, probably due to availability. Our ARNPs are highly trained and are capable of giving the very best of healthcare. I assure you the ARNP you saw yesterday is extremely knowledgeable and would have consulted the MD had she felt the need. ... Laura...we have to use the pharmacies dictated by the insurance a patient has. Please check back to see if Winn Dixie is on your insurance. ... Yvette..."they just can't write prescriptions"...not so. ARNP's (nurse practitioners) do write prescriptions...they can even write prescriptions for controlled substances in Florida. What you mentioned about them being very attentive is absolutely true. My PCP (primary care provider) is an ARNP...by choice.
