If you were expecting a package and you were given information that it was delivered to your mailbox but there was nothing there would they come back later that evening and deliver the package to my door

They usually leave an orange or green colored note in your mailbox, with instructions on how to pick up your package.
If it still doesn't come tomorrow, go to your nearest post office..they will help you.
