Like mentioned by Ricardo, it really depends on the age of the kids, I think the general rule is 14 and older can attend without an adult, but it may vary on the event. Best course of action is to call Guest Services at the Staples Center.
Hey like everything...safety is paramount. Honestly it depends on age of two kids. Personally I wouldn't drop off two kids alone. Staples Center is great place but proximity towards downtown...a lot people moving in...still see shady people here and there. Sometimes Police presence...but your call to determine if it's worth the risk. Place is heavy with people but the who's who in a public location....makes it prime target.
