My husband and i have been going there for 35 years. Best clams evere. We moved north 20 yrs ago and still make the hour drive a couple of tmes a year. Such a treat.
I was just there a couple of weeks ago and there was no extra charge, just menu prices. And the clams were the best! Clam box is alwaus rated #1 in New England.
I second the diligence in changing the oil twice a day as being reasonable to justify the additional charge. You'll NEVER get a foul smelling or tastng plate of fried seafood there. The lines out the door attest to the willingness of people to pay for quality food.

They are fantastic
They're suppose to be fresher than most other places. How much that is true I can not say. Clam Box changes the oil twice a day while some places can have the oil for days.
