Martha, if you can leave only when you have your permanent residence card (not expired). If you leave before the citizenship interview, please tell the officer during the exam. If you leave before the oath but after the exam, please do not lose your oath appointment as it is very difficult to ask for another date to be sworn in. Thank you.
