It is a mansion. Used to be owned (the grounds were larger) by Edgar Doheny, an oil magnate, who was brought down by the Teapot Dome scandal involving Pearl Harbor. It was owned by the Crowns out of Chicago, but then donated to the City of Beverly Hills.

It is a real, really big mansion. Not like there are in the East U.S. but pretty big
