Typically within 2-3 bank days (excluding weekends and holidays) and after a retailer has reconciled, which happens at end of the business day. Most debts hit your account immediately for transparency of your balance but credits take days to post as a retailer submits a request or drops a request and it's on the bank's processing time before you see a credit.
I wouldn't think it would take much longer than a few weeks as I recall some of the items I've returned at Nordstrom over the years. That seems to be something their known for or at least used to be known for
