It depends. Briones is a series of ridgelines and valleys. Any of the major parking areas in Briones has easy mellow hikes up at least one, if not two, valleys. The trails that go up the ridges are steep jeep roads. Beautiful views but not particularly easy. The entrance area near the archery range has a couple easy hikes up two different valleys.
We discovered Briones only recently. So, we haven't covered all of the park. However, I think that the Orchard trail is fairly easy, short, with not much elevation change. It starts at the Reliez valley road entrance, Martinez. Many trails criss-cross, so, having a trail map is essential. Maps are available at the entrance. There is also a picnic area at the entrance, where one can relax after a tiring hike, before heading out.
Orchard Trail, cross road by equestrian center, to Pine Trail.
