Hi Spike, I haven't personally been refused service, but Kelly's store is no longer open to the public. They even cut off locals. Edit: Andy does know what he is talking about. This is a recent change within the past couple of months. Just scroll through the reviews. Have a safe and happy Independence Day all! Source: In-laws live several miles up lake from Kelly's
Yes, yes, and yes. Kelly's is the hidden gem uplake on the southshore Correction: after stopping by Kelly's for over a decade as an up-lake destination for food, drinks and gas - our recent visit (Aug 28, 2018) we were turned away and told that Kelly's conveniece store and boat refueling was not open to the general public, but rather it was reserved for the guests only. We watched from offshore as 2 more boats were told the same thing: apparently they got "too busy" and wanted to dial it back.
It seems to be hit and miss as to whether they are open to the public... likely based on how busy they are on a given day. We purchased gas there yesterday September 2, 2018 without any problem.
I'm at a cabin less than a mile from Kelly's and have been purchasing drinks and food from Kelly's for the past 20 years. This year they refused to sell me anything because I'm not a guest. They told me they are now "privatized" and can no longer accept cash or card; everything Is charged to the room number at the resort. I'm not sure about gas, but it's a shame that they would refuse service to locals.
I was just there a couple months ago; staying at my cousin's cabin on lake. Bought ice, fuel for the boat, and food supplies for the cabin. Andy doesn't know what he's talking about.
