Rent increases are due to increase of resident income, NOT new ownership. I would like to add and emphasized the incredible improvements made as a result of new ownership. Completely renovated ground floor offices, new German engineered smart elevators, new flooring in the hallways throughout, new windows in the entire building, and soon to commence extensive Renovations on the ground floor to further beautify this historic property. Also, be sure to check out the 7th and 8th floor Assisted Living program that is a phenomenal option for people that need a little bit more help such as with laundry, cooking, cleaning, medication reminders, and assistance with ADLs. This program is for folks 60 years of age and older that have less than 17,500 in assets and less than $34,000 in annual income. We also have a full-time registered nurse for these two floors. The Assisted Living Program at Luther Center is one of the best kept secrets in Rockford! :-)
Dining room, residents can purchase meals, events like bingo. A van that takes residents on trips. Building is set up for internet but you still have to buy it from ATT or Comcast. Big screen TV in community area. Mostly used during free movie nights. What it does not have is an exercise room, massage, sauna. However, the city bus service stops right outside the front door and the bus transfer center is 2 blocks away.
The amenities are shrinking as new owners just took over. They do have. Community busses that go to Shnucks and/or Aldis but I think they charge 3 dollars. They do have several get togethers and social gatherings and updating the elevators and other things. Downside is they can take forever and fill up quickly. The rent is considered income based but everyone's rent is increasing as their lease ends and some have or increased dramatically.
