Typically, a social worker from the hospital the child is having procedures or staying at will setup your stay at the house. The State actually covers most of the cost and they only request a fee of $10 per day. Considering you get to come and leave as needed, there are typically meals provided almost every day.... It's more than worth it. I dedicate all monies i receive for recycling aluminum because i wanted to do more personally. They are a family away from home and it's a shame some people don't see it that way.. Please get in touch with the social worker and they will help you get it set up
I believe they ask for a nominal donation but it is not required. Yes it is for parents of children who are under the long term care of a health care facility.
