I would call PetSmart and explain the situation directly. They are going to ask you if the pet is up-to-date with their shots. If they are not up to datewith the shots, take him to a vet that you can trust. They might also be able to deal with the matting all at once. Let me know if you need a recommendation for a vet. The only one I know is in Westbrook but he is a really good vet

Try smaller food portions of cat food specifically for fat cats. They have it here. I believe they groom cats anywhere from 30 to 50 dollars
