I am adopting a kitten that you have seen, that is 4 months. I am using you are my place because Kris Hoffman was my vet for my chocolate lab all of her life-Jade. I am wondering what schedule is the best feeding plan and what to feed.

Hi Kathie, Congratulations on your new kitten! For a 4 month old kitten an open bowl of food is best so grazing can be done at any time. If you have other cats and can not leave out an endless supply of food, we recommend feeding at least 2-3 times a day starting with 1/4 to a 1/3 of a cup of food. Each cats metabolism is different, so depending on this and activity level, you will likely need to adjust the amount. At this age, you can let them eat as much as they like and they should eat for their caloric need and then stop eating. We prefer foods that are developed by veterinary nutritionists and two of the best are Hill's or Royal Canin Kitten food. If she is not spayed, this is usually done at 6 months of age along with a microchip and you may want to call the front desk to see if she is fully vaccinated. Wish you well with your new kitten!

They probably won't see this question. You would be more likely to get a response by calling them or emailing them.
