Depends on where you live. Especially in California, where asking a buddy to store it may well be considered an illegal transfer, and you may still be legally responsible if someone asks steals it. I'd suggest contacting Michell and Assoc. In Long Beach. He's one of the premier 2A lawyers in the state, and very pleasant to deal with. Sadly, the laws in CA are so Byzantine, that's about the only way to be sure.
