In CA? Yes. It is illegal to own a Hedgehog. Permits are only ever issued for Educational purposes and not recreational. Permit can be obtained from the California Department of Fish and Game.
I had a hedgehog in CA, given to me by someone that didnt care for it very well. It is not legal in CA though. Nor is going 75 on the freeway.....
