I don't understand this. I live more than 150 miles from this store and they delivered a whole truck full of furniture to my house, brought it in and set it up for a $94 delivery charge and a $40 set up fee. I was quite pleased. I'm going back today to buy a China hutch.
They should make their free delivery take in a wider territory. I live 4 miles from a zip code they deliver free to but won't go the extra 4 miles because I'm in a zip code they don't deliver free to! And I have bought quite a few thousand dollars worth of furniture!
Makes no sense
we bot wash dryer and they were going to deliver to Branson, MO from KC for $90. Whole truck worth or just 1 thing. 220 miles approx.
If you're officially within their delivery area, then it shouldn't have been a problem. Sounds to me like the employee who was helping you was either miss informed or unprepared to make the necessary arrangements for a non typical delivery. Say ok, and go find a salesperson who says "No problem".
