Not in Ainsworth but just a bit down the road there's a spot called Goverment Cove.
Ainsworth is open if you reserve online. We use Reserve America but im sure Oregon Parks & Rec has a website & phone number. You CANNOT get into the park without a reservation. There are folks posted at the end of the road blocking. All you have to do is pull up your reservation email or have it preprinted out & they let you through. People with any sense dont swim in the Colombia this time of year. The snow run off had raised the river to max capacity. However, there are several waterfalls nearby. Multnomah Falls, LaTourelle Falls, Horse Tail Falls, etc. My fav are LaTourelle & Onieonta because you can go down in the pools. Onieinta is a bit of a hike through waste deep chilly water but SO worth it. Bottom line you cant go wrong with anywhere you stay in Oregon because its freaking gorgeous.
Yes the Columbia river is your closest water to swim. Cold and swift to say the least. Ainsworth state park is closed due to the Forrest fire of last year. But other parks are open please call b4 going out
Im sorry owen I've never been to government cove.
