I go to an AA meeting in Portland on Tuesday at the Vet Center at 122 AV & Halsey. Mostly Vietnam veterans, retired. 10 a.m. Be great to find one in Vancouver.

My husband stopped alcohol and pot with the help of the SATP (Substance Abuse Treatment Program) at the Vancouver site. They don't do 12 step programs, instead had a combination of individual therapy with a psychologist, a number of 10 week programs that I think geared heavily toward:evidence based mindfulness practices (breathing, awareness - paying attention), and group sessions that are offered up to 4 times a week. I think the combination helped him a lot, and the group and psychologist became an important part of his life. I'd encourage you to check out the VA SATP and see if it works out for you too

To my knowledge veterans usually go through mental health for substance abuse care, but i know there is a city ran detox in the front building. You may have to call in for a more specific answer.
