Hi Carlos, I think this is a great question - with a surprising answer!! The answer is NO. You do not NEED a professional home inspection when (presumably) purchasing a home. But you may want one!!! A professional home inspection can reveal Big-Ticket issues with the systems of a house. It will let you know the condition of things like: the roof, the attic, the foundation, the electrical system, the structural and mechanical systems of the house. What's more, you will learn how to operate the house - how does the heating/cooling system work and what is the required maintenance for all these systems? I mean would you buy a fifty or one-hundred-year-old car without a mechanic's input? So, it is always the decision of the prospective buyer to release their right to the contingency process. But there are important reasons for that process; To protect you, your family and your investment. I hope this helps!
I had the same question six months back. Alacrity Home Inspection was referred to me by a friend. I hired them, and they gave me a thorough report regarding all major to minor issues of a house. That was the point when I realized why a home inspection is crucial.
