Yes, you can purchase your tickets there and it's the same line to enter the faire. They don't allow same-day ticket purchasing on the website. I still recommend buying online since the night time tickets can be sold out in person (and the fire breathing show was awesome!)
I wouldn't bother going.
I would suggest going on line and pre ordering your tickets. The line is REALLY long and they may be sold out of the "purchase at the gate" tickets by the time you get to the ticket booth.
It's also a limited run for tickets at the door and you won't know if they're sold out till potentially too late.
