Planning a trip to Washington this July. We will be heading to San Juan Island from Olympic National Park on July 20th. We want to take the Ferry over with our car. Trying to figure out the timing. How long will it take for us to get to the ferry?

You are two reservation ferry rides away, you will have to get a reservation at Port Townsend as well. Go to the Washington State Ferry page on Washington dept of transportation web site. If you can't get a reservation at port Townsend you can drive to Kingston then drive north to Anacortes. If you are near Port Angeles it will take 45 minutes to Port Townsend or about 1hr 15 minutes to Kingston but you don't need reservations there, ferries run about every 40 to 50 minutes so if you miss one you will likely get on the next. Without a reservation at Port Townsend you could be stuck for quite some time trying to get to Coupeville. From Edmonds to Anacortes takes about an hour and a half, Coupeville to Anacortes is 45-55 minutes depending on Traffic.

Looks like about 2h45 if you go through the Port Angeles side, according to Google maps. Make sure to get to the Anacortes ferry terminal 45-60 minutes before the departure time, with a reservation; otherwise, expect to wait two hours or more to get standby space.

Thank you Alice! When making a reservation for the car, do you just buy a ticket for the car or do you buy a ticket for car & one for everyone in the family? Sorry for all the questions, but can't seem to get anyone on the phone.
