If you're arriving on a domestic flight, you should have enough time. If you're coming from abroad, immigration and customs normally delay you, so you should get more time.
Depends on the type of flight...I travelled recently from Seattle to Houston via Salt lake City...in between flights was around one hour and it was more than enough...but if it's international flight and your coming from outside USA ...I have no sure idea ... maybe you need more time and it happened with my son and he lost his flight and had to book another one ...but he didn't pay anything
More time is better than short time for connection no matter if it is domestic or international connection. You nvr know what instore for you by the carrier which is either earlier or later than scheduled arrival or departure time. 50mins "very crucial" unless you know the airport super well, my advise do not attempt.
