It depends on when you go. Last year I went twice. Second weekend was no long wait. Everyone there told me the wait is better the first couple of weekends. I went again the weekend before Halloween and the VIP pass was a must. It cut our wait down to about 15 minutes. The lady taking tickets told me that closer to opening has a shorter wait as well as Sundays.
I got the VIP and only waited 5 minutes. Considering the length of the non VIP line on the day I went (early October), I'd guess you'd be waiting about an hour, give or take ten. Possibly longer closer to Halloween. I always recommended VIP tickets for haunted houses and trails.
