Wal-Mart isn't the the answer, the store manager is the problem. Pharmacy shouldn't even be influenced by the store, it is a separate place that only pharmacy personnel understand. It would be like the head of subway in a Wal-Mart trying to be involved with Wal-Mart's clothing department, makes no sense. But that's what's going on in Aransas pharmacy. Management is not in health care, they sell food. Pills are the same as apples to them. When do you need doctors, insurance, pre-authorization for apples?
It depends on exactly which type of medication you are talking about. There was a change to the laws about Narcotics last year. Serveral different narcotic medications were added to the list of Medications requiring Triplicate copies and are no longer refillable. You are required by law to get an original prescription every time it is filled, instead of allowing refills. To get it filled you must also see the doctor who is writing the medication for you. Ultram is one of the medications and so is Hydrocodone. You can look up the other drugs on the list by going to the DEA's website. There is nothing the pharmacy or the doctor can do about it. They must follow the law to keep their licenses.
I have no problems on auto refill and if you ask for refill too early that's a no. Suggested to get apt. at docs. early enough if you have no refills left to avoid delays or run at and have to do without.
After asking the management of H.E.B. about the refilling of prescriptions in the pharmacy holdups I was informed that the drug supplier is having local driver problems. WalMart has expressed the same problem with their supplier however I cannot determine how it has effected their programs. Soon they will resolve the lack of dedicated runs so keep your patience. I recommend calling ahead of time and locate whom can tefill your scripts before leaving and that will resolve unnecesary driving expenses.
