You don't have to worry about it selling out, but if you really want to be able to see everything to include the live shows as well as the rD theater shows, get there When it opens. There is also a splash park includes in your ticket price.
It shouldn't sell out. Pretty big place. When we went the parking lot was packed, but inside there was plenty of room to see the animals and move around.
If you are going on a weekday you can get a discount by buying ahead of time online. Otherwise it isn't necessary.
You probably can purchase tickets in advance, I don't really think that you would have too worry because they don't have a limited amount of space, like a theater.
