We usually take the boat all the way out into the Gulf around marker 17 or 15 just off the edge where the grass is. Have had a lot of good luck out there , but I've also had no bite at all.
I've heard depending on the weather and the water is at the fishing can be great there. Haven't been myself so but I know plenty of people who do
I always do good here, I would just avoid the piers. I usually fish at the very end of the north beach.
