They're making a big mistake. The Metroplex demands locations stay open late. They close early, they miss out. This isn't Houston. Dallas doesn't roll up the sidewalks at 6 PM. You have to meet the demands of your local market. But then again, that's the arrogance of Starbucks.

Hourly sales dictate how late each individual store stays open. If customers don't purchase items later in the evening, the store won't be open later in the evening. Simple economics
You might try contacting Starbucks' regional manager, to ask if these early closings are consistent with policy. For a long time the corporation had a standing rule: stores did not actually close until 15 min. past the appointed hour. In addition to being a gracious practice, this also allowed hardcore coffee addicts an extra few minutes to get their fix.
This is true for many of the local DFW Starbucks locations.
