I'm not certain, as it has been many years since I got started, but checkin takes about 15 minutes each time I go in. They do not pay, but you do earn points that can be used to get merchandise from their catalog.
Registration should be fairly quick, though it's also been a while for me as well. They do not pay for donations, but you do get points that can be spent on things and they have a pretty good list.
