When was Garner Park made?

I read that Garner Park was in the works before World War 2 began. The work had to stopped then. So, in the early '40's. The land was originally park of Vice President John Nance Garner. Read about it online. Interesting. I've been going since I was a little girl. I learned to swim there. I climbed Mt. Baldy before it was safe to do so. I think it's in my blood, as well as my family's. I'm 71 and plan on going in September.
