Dogs are allowed in the State Park, as long as they are on a lease at all times. As for swimming, no pets are allowed on the sand at the Beach at anytime. There are two grassy areas on either end of the beach where the dogs and owners can have access to the water. That way if you come with family or friends, the people can hang out in the sand and the dog can stay in the grass and still be close to your group and cool off in the water. Also, we only allow swimming from shore at the designated beach when visiting Big Creek State Park. If you have more questions please feel free to call the Park Office at 515-984-6473, Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm.
Just not directly on the beach. At least that's what the sign says. There are several other areas you can jump in at
Website says Leashed dogs are welcome in all areas of the park. Says nothing about 🏊
