Different varieties....i find if i leave them at room temp they tend to ripen/sweeten, in a shallow bowl or pie plate...not sure if thats scientifically true, but that's my experience.
Might be the variety or that section had already been picked over. If you go further into the field where few others are, you are more likely to find more berries that are really ripe and sweet
