How early do I have to be at the airport before the plane leaves?

I agree one hour should be perfect.

I have been getting there 1 hour before boarding just to clear security and stuff..things seem to go pretty smoothly there..

I think it depends on what time of day it is...early morning and later flights I would say an hour....busy times I give myself more towards 2 hours. You might get through security and all that jazz really fast and have to wait but it's better than being late.
