Give yourself a couple hours to fully experience the cave tour and the gift shop. The tour group will not leave you behind. Plenty of handrails to assist with getting down and back up. Worth it!
The tour lasts approximately 45-50 minutes.
You might have to wait for a tour to start if they are busy, (summer time) but once you enter the cavern it's about an hour depending on the size of your tour group & if people ask a lot of questions about the cavern while on the tour it can be a little longer as well. I have really bad knees, a bad back & I'm over weight, but if you use the hand rails for support you'll be fine. So worth the cardio you get from climbing all those stairs!!! I have been there more than a dozen times, I never miss a chance to go if friends are visiting from out of the area. It's one of my top 10 places to visit in California. 10 stars on a 5 star scale!!!!!
