can i bring food and water into park

Guests are not permitted to bring any food or drink items into the park. However, individual, unopened water bottles, as well as special diet/need items, may be brought into the park. I walk in with a bottle of soda every time I enter the park and have had no issue ever in 2 years so not sure where John is getting info from.
