I come from a commercial construction family and the word has been that the leasing costs were too high. I've also heard recently that things have become more affordable (relative to the cost of living) hence the reason technology, industry and manufacturing companies are coming into the area now.
I have always been told it was the expansive soils. Have no knowledge re. rent. It was certainly more vibrant at the beginning of its existence.
Expansive soils and the cost have been both the problems as far as rentals it seems to have driven people out yet and certainly not bringing them in. And fortunately at the time it was the place to go when it first opened up. Not so much now
