It's best to pay Valet - especially if you plan on doing a lot of coming/going. Self parking isn't worth the hassle. And, as someone else mentioned, your vehicle and your own personal safety is greater.
Pay for parking either way. Fairly standard. Valet costs more. Their parking is across front on the bluff. Street parking is cheap, but less protection.

Nice hotel we were there as group trip to go to National Civil Rights Museum,very good food as well.
Parking was around 20 for self park and 22 for valet
