How did it get it's name?

Another theory is there is a French phrase that means "narrowing of the river" that sounds like toad suck.

The sound of many Toads became annoying in the area at night.. so the people complain everywhere saying these Toad's Suck around here at night, and later the name was created Toad Suck,AR 😌

Not a clue but id assume its about the sucking of toads to be used for halucenogenic purposes in that area

I found this answer on another sight for Toad Suck Daze. It said the sailors would be at the Dam waiting at the lock and would go to the tavern where they would " suck on the bottle ’til they swell up like toads.” Hence, the name Toad Suck.

There isn't anything in French that even closely resembles toad suck
