The cups are actually slightly bigger than the size of the drink to allow room for cream, whipped cream, extra shots, etc. You can ask for extra milk if its a mixed drink and you want it full to the brim.
The answers already given seem spot on, however they do the same thing with my hot chocolate even when I say no lid...and who puts extra cream in their Coco?
Yep. Tell them no cream. I like mine black like i like my metal. My cup runneth over.
They probably left room for cream.
