I started in Smyrna. There is plenty of parking along the trail. Do keep in mind the trail is beautifully covered by trees so its shaded. That being said stay aware of your surroundings.
Really depends on where you're coming from and if you care where you start. There are many spots along the trail. The trail begins behind a school and parking is available there. If you'd like to challenge yourself you could start from the Publix on east-west connector and follow the sidewalk down a long hill thus requiring a climb to get back to your car.
There is plenty of parkink at the trail head. There is also parking at the many parks along the trail. You can find them about every 5 to 10 miles.
