I booked a room for a weekend get away for my wife and I, the reservation was confirmed via email. The next day our local Hampton called to cancel out our reservation because they don’t rent to locals. Is this policy or preference?

Good day. We apologize for any inconvenience with your weekend plans. It has been the policy of this hotel not rent to locals (within 30 miles) for many years. This was a choice made to leave more rooms available for traveling guests who may be far from home. Again we are sorry for any inconvenience or complications this may have caused.

Sounds very strange . Maybe just go ahead as usual?

Never heard of such. I would call and complain. Something going on.

Doesnt make sense. Money is money no matter who it comes from.

That doesn't make sense one way or another. A customer is a customer. Is there some major event going on in the area? Maybe they wanted out of towners to charge higher rates? I'd definitely call corporate to inquire amd complain.
