That's a question that's been asked and disregarded for over 20 years, I remember when this particular store ( Avon, NC ) opened it was I believe in 1988 and they always had locals working, then it changed sometime in the past 15 or so years, there was still good hardworking people wanting to work, but I do know, that it was cheaper to hire students whom they house together 10 or more a cottage and can pay less than a local, as well as they leave in the fall.. if a year long worker isn't getting 40 hours, no insurance has to be supplied, no overtime paid ect.. you can pretty much see what I'm getting at.. cheaper labor and they know they can handle off season with less workers. But what do you expect with a company that's not originating from the USA. but a overseas company. Something to think about but it would take many people to ever get it changed. I promise it's not what locals want, but there fighting a huge corporate battle to even be heard. I always shop locally if possible
I didn't know that food lion did that. It's a good question
The people I talked to were local.
Most of the people in Oak Hall Food Lion are local. I can't say all. I've shopped there for years and I know most of them by name. I'm not aware of the circumstance you are referring to.
